RGM-79Q Quel

The GM-79Q Quel. Yes....another GM, this one in Titan colors. Added a bit of dry brushing for that worn look, but not too much.
Never really liked the ideia of the fingers in red on the RX121 Hazel, but I found that they would suit this one. Who says GM's don't have a charm of their own?

RGM 79 FP "Striker"

Finally took the time to take some photos of this kit. The Striker is a 1/144 High Grade Kit and as far as I know only featured in videogames, so it might not have a particularly interesting story.
It's a GM at it's core with a fancy weapon and shield. The armor seems to fit it's intended purpose, close combat. To that extent it's armor is better than a standard GM but without the bulkiness of some of the other models.
The cool gimmicks are as stated before it's shield with extendable spikes and a twin spear who also converts to a scythe like weapon. Not only that but the spear/scythe is in fact composed by 2 beam sabers which can be detached, so it really is full of surprises.
Regarding the actual model building, I decided to use a more fictional approach and paint a more vivid type of green, instead of using military tones. I'm also finding I really much enjoy orange and white tones in the models, I'll have to do something in that nature in the future.

Portugal, terra de ladrões...

E agora um pequeno boletim informativo...ou até dois (duas simples regras, que se calhar até vos poupam algum tempo, no caso da regra 2):
Regra 1- Se comprarem um tlm roubado, garantam que apagam os antigos números todos e que não mandem por engano(?) mensagens de engate a uma das pessoas da lista do antigo dono. Graças ao incumprimento dessa regra, à facilidade com que convence a outra pessoa a aparecer num encontro (há que saber engatar...claro), e à policia à paisana de Lisboa, a minha irmã recuperou o seu n97.
Regra 2- Caso o vosso seja roubado, não se dêem ao trabalho de o mandar bloquear. Dito por um amigo que trabalha na TMN e até pela Polícia quando a minha irmã reportou o roubo, "eles não bloqueiam o tlm roubado porque assim perdem um cliente".Afinal de contas, seja roubado ou não, o que lhes interessa é que o ladrão gaste dinheiro em chamadas. No entanto, dado o facto da minha irmã o ter recuperado...foi uma história gira:
-"Boa tarde, venho desbloquear o tlm que recuperei que...oh.....surpresa, afinal nem estava bloqueado!"
-Oh...(silêncio)....é que....recebemos um pedido para o desbloquear dia.....14....
-É curioso que diga isso, porque eu já recuperei o tlm a semana passada, só tive foi tempo de cá vir hoje. Por isso gostava de saber quem é que fez esse pedido visto que nessa altura o tlm já estava em minhas mãos.
- Ah...é que (silêncio).....estamos com problemas na base de dados....sabe...err..bem...não é possível consultar...
-E então como explica que eu para o bloquear tive que trazer a minha identificação, prova de compra, documento da polícia comprovando que o tlm tinha sido roubado, mas uma pessoa qualquer possa chegar cá e pedir para o desbloquear?
-Ah....(novo silêncio)...pois...de momento não lhe podemos disponibilizar essa informação....

A Unicorn is born...

Working on my first Master Grade kit. 1/100 Unicorn Gundam. So far only painted the inner frame with Mr Color Iron color. Was kinda worried that the results weren't that good. Had some problems with the paint, which was already dry from the start(had to use some alchool/Gunze Thinner, so I wasn't sure the paint was "ok" judging by the result. Polished with a soft paper cloth and voilá!, the color came alive. Considering the actual armor of the Unicorn, since I hear everything is very "tight fit" and that parts brush against each other on the transformation to Destroy Mode. I will just be using Tamya White primer Spray. It has a really nice matte finish and it should resist well to the friction when transforming. Plus, the less amount of paint coats, the lesser the chances of parts friction.

Publicidade duvidosa?

Às vezes pergunto-me se quem cria as campanhas de publicidade faz alguma ideia do que está a criar. Algumas campanhas publicitárias parecem ser completamente aleatórias no seu conceito..ou então de origem duvidosa.
Por exemplo..a da pasta de dentes Sensodyne. "recomendado por dentistas em Portugal". Ok...sabemos que não é um dentista apenas porque é recomendado por dentistas (plural), mas....e se forem só dois os dentistas em Portugal que recomendam a pasta de dentes? Se calhar até são, e o anuncio não deixa de ser verdade.

Depois temos a bebida energetica Aquarius. "Para um mundo imprevisível, uma bebida imprevisivel". Eu penso que a tradução para esse slogan é alguma coisa como "Nós não temos controlo de qualidade". Mas...isto é, é imprevisivel em que aspecto? Às vezes bebemos e dá-nos mais nutrientes que nos outros dias? Noutros dias bebemos e caimos para o lado mortos? O que nos raios é uma bebida imprevisivel?

Parece que às vezes criam estas campanhas publicitárias com atrasados mentais como "target audience". Por outro lado...o que mais se vê por aí são pessoas que cairam na ilusão publicitária de que o que as mulheres gostam de ver nos homens são aquelas novas calças de ganga descaidas que não revelam nada dos contornos do corpo. Uma coisa é compra-las por serem confortáveis (não sei se são...não uso disso), outra é comprar porque alguem disse que são a nova moda. É como a Sensodyne....recomendado....por alguém...algures...

Mobile Suit: Gundam RX 121 "Hazel"

My first gunpla mobile suit. Up til that point I never had though about building my own kit. Wasn't sure how easy/fun it was going to be so decided to start of with something light. Easy kit to assemble, all snap fit pre-coloured plastic. Decided to go the extra mile and spring for a compressor+airbrush, was amazed at how good the results were.
As for the kit itself, it's your standard everyday UC Gundam. The only gimmick is the thruster shield "thingy".

Mobile Suit: AMX 107 - Bawoo

Ah....the 1/144 Bawoo. My second mobile suit, the first I ever painted.
Looking at it, it is actually seems like a giant compared to the Gundams. Painting the shield is still a work in progress, and while I did overshade the mobile suit too much, in the end he got a nice feel to it. As some might know, he comes with the ability to transform into 2 separate ships. The top half isn't so bad, although nothing really noteworthy....and the bottom part...it's just too silly. The word of advice is: "Keep it one piece".

Lost causes...

...then again...there are battles that just can't be won.
The PC is dead for good.

Acho ridiculo que haja spam para o mail das promoções dos canais telecine e das fotografias a um cêntimo da ZON netcabo foto, assim como mensagens para o telemóvel dos filmes novos que entraram para o ZON videoclube, mas que uma mensagem importante como esta, se tenha limitado a um e-mail que afinal nem cheguei a receber.
Enfim...abençoados backups, mas não deixo de estar insatisfeito com a situação, sobretudo quando estes se fazem na presunção que "toda a gente usa blogs / image dump sites" e que já ninguem quer ter uma webpage pessoal. Vou ter que converter uma página ao formato Blog, é isso?

E de resto...se os serviços foram cessados a 15 de Junho, já vamos em Setembro. Aonde está a prometida alternativa?

A review da netcabo? Numa escala de 0-20:
14 pontos no desrespeito ao cliente.
12 pontos na incapacidade de perceber as necessidades do cliente.
e 5 pontos na capacidade de me deixar profundamente lixado. (Score baixo porque até sou uma pessoa previdente e tinha backups feitos....senão estava bem lixado!)

The little things...(how I brought back to life a dead Computer)

So....my sister's computer died. It crashed with a bluescreen, she rebooted, it crashed again at the motherboard logo screen, and after another restart...it wouldn't go past a complete black screen at system start up. It would power on, and turn all the fans, and drives, but nothing else
No beeps, no motherboard logo/POST no nothing. Even if I reset the BIOS, removed some/all RAM modules, disconnected all drives, removed the graphic card....nothing....


I thought it could be the PSU, or the MotherBoard/CPU.
I tried booting my old Celeron 400Mhz with the Pentium4's PSU and it worked there. Plus, one thing puzzled me about the Motheboard being dead. I have on that PC a 7800GS VGA card, and it requires external power to satisfy it's demands (it needs a 12v connector apart from the power it drains from the AGP slot).

If I turned it on without the external power...it would let out a long continuous beep. Maybe the motherboard wasn't really so dead after all.
That confused me even more, odds were it wasn't the PSU since it was able to boot a lesser system, so I was almost sure about it being MB/CPU related.
Suddenly on one of my tries...it booted...but since I had the keyboard turned off...couldn't do a thing..and since I had reset the BIOS the right disk wasn't configured to boot.
I quickly turned the keyboard on again....booted...and...black screen again.
Then on a stroke of genious....I figured it out! If I disconnected the keyboard...it would boot...otherwise, it would present me with a nice black screen at system power up. I got my media center's USB keyboard..configured the drives..and...it's in working order again.
In the end...my analysis was accurate, it was the motherboard as I suspected. Probably the PS2 port died...and whenever there's a keyboard attached to it...it halts the system dry.

Bought a USB keyboard today (my sister got a blue backlit version for just 9€), and now all is well...

But even if it was the motherboard's fault...truth is....my computer completely died and was almost trashed.....because of the KEYBOARD! One silly 10 euros piece...was killing it dead at start...and leaving me completely clueless...!
(Next time I know....include the keyboard in the error debug procedures when there's computer problems).
